Are You Over Exfoliating?
Posted: Dec 19 2017
I must confess. It feels good to scrub my skin. Sometimes while scrubbing, I lose track of time and it is so relaxing. I have a great Glycolic cleanser, scrub, masks (including the new black peel off mask). In addition, I also own a circular scrubber. Recently, I noticed that my skin was stingy when I started applying makeup.
The feeling didn’t last long so I forgot about it.
During my facial appointment, my esthetician cleaned by face and then asked what I had been doing to my, she said it looked “thin”. I didn’t really tell her everything at first, but then I admitted to trying new masks and products. It turns out I was excessively scrubbing and exfoliating my skin. She said that she was simply going to apply vitamin C serum, and a good moisturizer. She also told me not to use any scrubs, brushes or masks for at least a week or maybe two.
Sure enough after a few days my skin began to look better and after two weeks I actually sent my esthetician a photo asking if it was ok to begin exfoliating again. She gave me the ok, but only 2 times per week until my next visit. I still enter a “trance” when I am applying my skin care products, I just make sure that I stay fully “awake” when I am exfoliating.
